Disney has done a terrific good job!

Actually I have been waiting for the coming out of Mulan for a long time and with great expectation. What I was always afraid of is that it may not live up to my expectation. Of course, you know I was wrong. I was not imaginative enough to make up more expectation! Compared with what Disney has achieved, my expectation was so much kid's stuff, while the Disney's work is a the master piece.

I was amazed by the first scene. I have had many imaginations of Great Wall, and many feelings. The first eye I caught on Disney's Great Wall, I knew this is the Great Wall I have dreamed of, and it rearoused all of my feelings I have connected with the two words. It is not the Great Wall I saw on that hot summer afternoon with thousands of other tourists. Thanks, Disney.

I have seen the trailer about the Hun's Army charging down seens before, and I thought Ok, this is great, the best scene of the movie, Mmm.. But I was wrong, the charging of the Hun's Army is maybe the most visually spectacular scene in the history of animation, but it was just the beginning of a series of equally or even more visually and increasing spiritually spectacular scenes!! My goodness, how can
Disney do such a good job?

And the plot, it is really ingenious, it could never have come to me, Mulan is surely a smart girl, of course one of the smartest, defeating that terrible undefeatable army single handly! Enough to make women all over the world laughing at men, :-)

And seamless integration of Chinese trational graphical elements with Disney's tradition and modern computer graphics. What can I say? Well done! Even I couldnot tell where the Chinese way ends and where the Disney's way starts and where is the computer graphics. I have always believed that no one in the entire western world has ever watched chinese cartoons and animations. But surely I was wrong, not only can I find tints of those international award-winning graphical,
(look here, even the fat monk!) but also traditional Chinese "Xiao er Shu" -- Small
Children's book(actually cartoons.) The boot camp scene, and the army of Li Shang's father gallopping out of the camp remind me of the "Xiao er shu"s , the legend of Three Kingdom, which have long been the favorite item of collectors due to its excellent artistry. And the way they draw Khan!

But Disney has done a much better job! Here we can see the great Disney's imaginative and creative spirits come to work. Other studios may do equally good jobs, but no one can match Disney's imagination. The pretty garden scene of the "Mulan" flower, the reflecting stone- monuments of the ancestors, the tiny miny
lovely dragon, the blue Cri- Kee, the bewildering scene of the burned village,... It
seems to be totally done by a brush, and can you figure out the black burned-out structures still hold out the shapes of Asian buildings, you can imagine what a beautiful village it once was.

Yet it does not lack the subtleties that touch the most soft places of our hearts. The doll's black hair swinging in the cold winter winds, it almost made crying. What about the hair of her little human girl? And the getting-up scene of Mulan and Mushu, besides making me laugh, it subtly reminds me of the mornings my mom trying
to pull me out of bed and stuff some foods in my mouth before I was late for school.

And besides, I like the figure Li Shang quite much. Though he was not so much of prince-like, he was still a great guy, all the tender feeling he accidentally revealed towards Mulan, pretty touching. Well, this is a guy that really has a heart and some tender feelings.

I have no objections against the ancestors dancing rock'n'roll final scenes. On the contrary, I feel it is a lot of fun. You know,
today's Asia was so much westernized, even the ancestors will rise up and dance rock'n'roll!!

I love Eddie Murphy's Mushu Dragon too. I have never ever seen such as a lovely dragon, not even in Chinese literatures!

I also have no other opinions about the scene of Emperor bowing to Mulan. She have saved everything, why should not he pay her some respects. I love the scene of all the mass outside the forbidden city bowing to Mulan. It is quite satisfying. I also love the scene that Mulan galloping down the splendid Imperial doorway and heading for home. Could there be anything more beautiful?

And note that, when the Emperor tries to "awaken" Li Shang, he did not say "you can not meet such a girl everyday" but "every dynasty"!! That is where the fun comes in!

Xin
I loved you movie, must see it at least 200 times
This is the best movie we have ever watched.
i loved the movie.blah blah blah blah blah i like doing that
My friend had a birthday party a while ago. We saw Mulan. We all LOVED it!!! I like your site!
I'm a Chinese girl, and this is my fantastic year to be here in U.S. MULAN is a Chinese legend story and almost everyone in China knows that ancient story. So I feel so special that Disney Company will create this movie. Though they speak English all through the movie, for every thing else, it just like in China. You guys really did a good job. hope you will create more and more Chinese stories as Cartoons.
I love your Mulan page. I might see the movie tonight.
